Planning your visit
Making the journey to Egremni Beach takes a bit of planning, but the reward is a unique slice of the Ionian Sea. Recent years have seen new pathways replacing those lost to earthquakes, changing accessibility and how travelers experience the descent. While the stairs can be steep and the spot remote, advance preparation helps every visitor get the most out of their time on this beautiful shore.
- Best time to visit: Late May to early July and September offer warm water, manageable crowds, and good weather. Early mornings and late afternoons are extra peaceful, as day-trippers thin out. Peak August brings bigger crowds and hotter sun.
- How to get there: By car or scooter from Lefkada Town or Vasiliki, following mountain roads winding through pine forests. The last stretch involves descending several hundred concrete steps from the parking area, or reaching the beach by boat from Nydri, Vasiliki, or Porto Katsiki.
- Accessibility: The stairs can be challenging for families with young children, seniors, or anyone with mobility concerns. The beach is best suited for agile travelers. Boat trips offer a gentler landing.
- Average visit duration: Most spend at least half a day to justify the journey, with some staying until sunset.
