Planning your visit
Because Ancón Hill’s popularity attracts locals and travelers alike, a little planning helps make the experience smooth. The gentle climb rarely takes more than an hour, though early mornings offer fewer crowds and cooler air. Since there is no entrance fee or ticket required, travelers can come and go freely, but the entry gate—just behind Mi Pueblito—is only open during daylight hours.
- Best time to visit: Early morning or late afternoon for cooler weather and dramatic lighting (dry season, December–April, is most comfortable)
- How to get there: Taxi or rideshare from Casco Viejo or downtown Panama City (about 10–15 minutes), or city buses to the base followed by a short walk
- Accessibility: Paved road to summit allows vehicles for those with limited mobility; moderate hike suitable for most families but not stroller-friendly
- Average visit duration: 1 to 2 hours covers both the walk and time at the top
