Planning your visit
Reaching Afteli Beach requires a little planning, as the secluded bay lies hidden in the southern part of Lefkada, several kilometers from the popular village of Evgiros. The steep, winding road that snakes down to the shore suits adventurous drivers, though it remains accessible by car or scooter. Summer months see more visitors, but spring and early autumn bring milder weather and welcome space. No tickets are needed, but parking can fill quickly on weekends.
- Best time to visit: Late spring (May–June) or early autumn (September–October) offer warm weather and fewer crowds. Arriving before 10 a.m. ensures a quiet beach and good parking.
- How to get there: Reach Afteli Beach by renting a car or scooter from Lefkada Town or nearby Nidri. Some cycling enthusiasts take on the winding descent. No public transport stops directly at the beach.
- Accessibility: The access road is steep and narrow, so families with small children or seniors need to take care. Pathways to the water are stony and uneven. Stroller and wheelchair access is difficult.
- Average visit duration: Most visitors stay for three to four hours, often lingering for a picnic or a swim.
